I Think I Was An Alcoholic, John Callahan, 1993

On July 24th, the world lost the great cartoonist John Callahan.

Callahan had the most incredible, deepest, darkest sense of humor.

I recall seeing this piece at a festival (I don't remember which one, there were so many, they're all a blur) and being struck by not only by its unflinching, harsh honesty, but also its genuine humor.

Rest in peace.

  1. He probably went through some problems when he was still alive and that drove him to become an alcoholic. But no matter how big the problem, people must remember that having a drink or two won't solve anything. Anyway, his memories will remain forever.
